Building strong arguments for ideas you disagree with

One prevalent strategy when we attempt to “win” an argument is to distort somebody’s perspective to cause it to appear to be more fragile and less substantial. This is known as a straw man – the essential thought is to disprove a point that appears to be like an individual’s convictions, yet is really a misrepresentation or distortion of what the individual is stating. 

We develop “straw man” contentions with the goal that we can all the more effectively wreck them and give the idea that we have vanquished the other individual’s perspective. In any case, “straw man” contentions are a legitimate false notion that regularly harms our capacity to get to reality.
